The General Store

The General Store, housed within the Meadow Run Grist Mill, offers shopping opportunities in a charming old mercantile atmosphere and offers a wide variety of quality gifts for all ages and occasions. The Mill Room located on the first floor, features a variety of gifts including an array of Virginia-made products such as wines, jams/jellies, candies and stone ground flours, meals and mixes. An educational section is specifically set-aside for our young patrons and contains entertaining games and toys pertaining to the past. Our second floor features jewelry, pottery, tin-ware, pewter-ware, glassware, apparel, collectibles, framed prints, a year-round Christmas section and a reading room where period newspapers, history-related books, artwork and chess sets are displayed.

The Tavern Gift Shop, adjacent to the Dining Room, reflects the 18th-century Tavern and features a varied selection of gift ideas especially for the history buff. Faithful reproductions include Civil War guns, swords, historical documents, colonial dolls and needlework kits. The Tavern's wine cellar, located within the shop, helps to tell the story of Virginia wines and features a variety of local and regional wines for sale.

The Clothier Shop

Located along the Visitors Path, this unique shop, focuses on fashion. Beyond period clothing and patterns, shawls, scarves, hats, colonial pockets, handkerchiefs and haversacks, there are braided and hooked rugs, quilts, jewelry, books and more -- all housed in a cozy circa 1822 structure. Seasonal Operation, hours: 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
