Sunday Brandied Cherry Clafouti

SOUTHERN COOKING SUNDAY – BRANDIED CHERRY CLAFOUTI: Cherries were a prized ingredient in the 18th century and were used in main courses, sauces, desserts and beverages.  This warm French custard dessert with brandied cherries is not unlike desserts enjoyed in the 18th century.  This painting is by Clara Peeters (1607-1621). Peeters was a still-life painter who came from Antwerp and trained in the tradition of Flemish Baroque painting.
