Michie Tavern ca. 1784

Michie Tavern, a Virginia Historic Landmark, was honored in October 2020 as the Restaurant of the Year for the entire state of Virginia! This award was selected by the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging and Travel Association. We were recognized for how we handled the many challenges of this past year. We found a way to transition into a takeout operation overnight without closing a single day. A little more than two months later, with a two-day notice, we switched back to inside dining and incorporated the many restrictions and challenges while continuing takeout. We continue to evolve and adjust daily to weather this current situation.

Historic Michie Tavern is located ½ mile below Jefferson’s Monticello and captures 18th-century life. Tavern’s History

Get a taste of the 18th-century as we feature Southern Fare daily.

Shopping opportunities abound in The General Store and The Tavern Shop, both housed in restored period structures.

The 1784 Pub, housed in the oldest section of this historic landmark, serves local wines, beers and hard ciders. (Temporarily Closed due to COVID-19)
